Whitefield & the NH 648 Corridor: An Address in Motion
There is a particular kind of quiet confidence that comes with living along a road that once carried bullock carts and now carries the ambitions of an entire city's tech workforce. National Highway 648 (NH 648), along with NH948A, constitutes the Satellite Town Ring Road of Bengaluru. It connects satellite towns such as Devanahalli, Doddaballapur, Hoskote, and Dobbaspet in Karnataka to Hosur in Tamil Nadu, providing an alternative route that diverts inter-state traffic away from Bengaluru's core urban areas. For residents, this translates into a rare combination: the daily conveniences of a fully-developed IT suburb paired with an expressway-grade exit route towards the airport, Hoskote and Tamil Nadu.
The pace of infrastructure delivery here has been notable rather than merely promised. The 80 km stretch of the Dabaspete-Hoskote section of National Highway 648, also part of the STRR, was inaugurated on 11 March 2024. This is not a highway on paper; it is tarmac residents already drive on, shortening what were once tedious cross-city detours into direct, signal-free stretches.
Unsurprisingly, the residential appetite for this belt has followed the infrastructure. Whitefield is one of the prime locations to buy a home in Bangalore East, with 410 residential projects in the area.
